Laughlin and Bowen, P.C. is a small firm whose founders have substantial experience in all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal courts. The firm is dedicated to providing high quality litigation services with integrity, speed, and close communication with its clients. The hallmark of the practice is this quality of work and responsiveness to client’s needs and communications. Laughlin and Bowen, P.C. does not accept any criminal cases.

Founders John R.C. Bowen and Drew A. Laughlin practiced law together on Hilton Head Island since 1982, and until Drew’s retirement in 2020. Drew, who now serves as a Beaufort County Magistrate Judge remains affiliated with the firm in an advisory and counsel role. John’s areas of practice include admiralty and maritime matters, estate litigation, employment matters, and a broad variety of commercial, corporate, and tort litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. Bowen has been honored by inclusion in the Martindale Hubble Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers under the Admiralty section and is an A rated attorney. Mr. Bowen, in addition to many civic and professional activities, is a former U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer and teaches law at the University of South Carolina as an adjunct professor.
